John Dunford
Senior Environment Artist
John Dunford is a Senior Environment Artist with 9 years of experience in AAA development. He began his career as an intern at Firaxis Games before moving to Infinity Ward as a material artist, and later Sledgehammer Games to continue his work on the Call of Duty franchise.
From XCOM and Civilization to a half dozen Call of Duty titles, John has contributed to nearly every aspect of the environment art pipeline. He is currently a Senior Environment Artist at Sucker Punch Productions. Five years as a material artist gave John an immense appreciation for detail.
In asset construction, he believes every detail matters - from a clear understanding of how an object is manufactured to a firm grasp on how light interacts with the material it’s comprised of.
John has previously mentored at UC Berkeley’s CMGG, where he had the opportunity to work with students one on one to help them find their way early in their journey as game developers.
