Duncan Botwood

Level Design Director

Duncan Botwood is a game industry veteran, having started his career in 1995 working for Rare Limited as a Game Designer. He has worked for Rare, Ubisoft, and Codemasters and currently is employed by NetEase as a Level Design Director.

He has worked on several titles including GoldenEye (N64), Perfect Dark, JetPac Refuelled, Splinter Cell Blacklist, Assassins Creed Unity, FarCry Primal, Watch Dogs Legion, and FarCry 6, to name a few.

His early career as a Game Design generalist at Rare gave him experience in other, non-level-design disciplines which he has found valuable when working on larger teams with groups of specialized experts: Cutscene scriptwriting, low-poly modeling, motion capture acting/directing, and voice acting/directing.

He has also mentored Level Designers from Junior to Lead level, and he has mentored in general videogame production for smaller studios.
