Ted McIlwain

Associate Level Design Director

Ted is a Level Designer with 11 years of experience in his field. He initially fell in love with design creating Counter-Strike maps and eventually contributing to HL2 modding teams. With this experience he landed his first position with Digital Extremes where he expanded his skills working on titles such as Warframe and Halo 4. Eventually, Ted made his way to Ubisoft Toronto where he’s played a key role in the FarCry Brand. Having contributed to FarCry Primal, FarCry 5 and soon to be released FarCry 6, Ted’s has his hands in many facets of production pipeline. 

Throughout his time at Ubisoft, Ted has taken on more leadership roles. Gaining trust and reputation along the way as a “goto” designer, as well as a mentor for juniors and veterans. 

 

Level Design Mentorship

This mentorship includes 5 hours of one-on one training, custom tailored to suit the mentees specific needs. We will build a development plan together in order to level-up your skills and help achieve your goals.

We will cover various aspects of Level Design, from reference gathering, 2D planning, design principles, pacing and player flow, scripting, problem solving and putting it all together into a cohesive package.

The mentorship is designed to help break through plateaus, build confidence, increase technical aptitude, and provide a clear path of continued growth and success.
