Ben Nadler

ASSOCIATE ART DIRECTOR

Ben is an Associate Art Director with over 10 years of experience working across several AAA titles. He began as a self-taught artist working on Source Engine and Unreal Tournament mods before transitioning into a professional role on Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. From there, he’s contributed as an Environment and Technical Artist to multiple consoles and VR franchises including Tomb Raider, Star Wars, Avengers, Mafia, Wreck-it-Ralph, and more. Currently, he is Lead Environment Artist at That’s No Moon where he has been building up the team on an exciting new AAA title.

Often working on smaller teams, Ben has a strong generalist background covering all the necessary skills for Environment Art across different styles including sculpting, modular kit construction, Blueprint and shader graphs, set dressing, procedural content generation, terrain, foliage, and destructibles. He is deeply inspired by all forms of cinema and photography, often weaving that into his personal work and explorations with environmental storytelling.

Prior to SkillTree, Ben provided mentorships through Mentor Coalition and was a professor at Academy of Art University in San Francisco. He has also presented at Substance Day at Siggraph 2019. As your mentor, he is here to help you hone your craft and come away with the skills needed to succeed in this industry.

Environment Art Mentorship

The mentorship includes 5 hours of one-on-one training and feedback to help build your Environment Art portfolio.

A typical mentorship can cover how to plan and execute on an environment from start to finish, with a focus on how to scope effectively, work modularly, and how to present your work to best catch the eyes of recruiters and leads.

We will build a plan together that is tailored directly to your needs and will help you hone your craft and the skills needed to succeed in this industry. This time is dedicated to giving you the personal help a tutorial can’t provide.

Let’s get started!
